NIMS University conducts its orientation program for the Academic year of 2023-2024

Jaipur: NIMS University Rajasthan Jaipur hosted an orientation programme on August 8, 2023 at Rajeshwari Auditorium for the new batch of students in the academic year 2023-24. The event was attended by students from a variety of colleges, including the NIMS School of Business, NIMS Institute of Engineering & Technology, NIMS Law, NIMS Humanities, and NIMS Liberal Art. Chairman and Chancellor, ProVice-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Senior Advisor, and Registrar of NIMS University were present at the ceremony, as well as the Principal, Course Director, and Faculty of the respective colleges.

The orientation schedule includes events such as management games, talent hunt, social sensitization, corporate guest lecturers, evening programs, and campus orientation workshops. Orientation was designed to guarantee that students had a smooth transition into the university system. In this event some motivational sessions were organized by world famous organizations such as, Google, Lenskart, MX Player, First Connect, META, Department of Information & Technology, Government of Rajasthan.

The comprehensive event is planned to provide incoming students with a smooth transition into university life, helping them acclimate to the campus, its resources, and the vibrant academic community. A major objective of the program was to inform parents and students about the academic aspect of the course, and the institute’s rules, and to ensure parental involvement in monitoring students’ progress and performance.

The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, Chairman and Chancellor of NIMS University. He addressed the new academic batch of 2023 and congratulated the students on being chosen for their professional journey. He also urged them to proudly carry on the NIMS legacy. Dr. Tomar talked about the future of work and career options and motivated them to be prepared for the technologically advanced workplace of the digital age. He said, “At NIMS, you, aspiring professionals, have fantastic opportunities to engage in the dynamic environment of research and development and other fascinating fields of your interest”.

The event was inaugurated with a welcome speech by Prof. (Dr.) Sundeep Mishra, Vice Chancellor of NIMS University. Speaking at the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Sundeep Mishra welcomed the students and parents. During his address, he outlined the University’s expectations for its students and emphasized the importance of both short- and long-term goals in academics. Prof. Mishra shared a brief insight about the University and his academic journey, emphasizing education’s transformative power.

His anecdotes served as a reminder that this phase of learning is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about personal growth and character development. He concluded with encouraging words, “Look who is successful in the world- It is not intelligence. It is hard work. And to get on the top, that is a clear vision. But most of all, pursuing that vision is important.”

To showcase the academic and infrastructural transformation plans of the NIMS University, Sr. Advisor Prof. (Dr.) Sarit K. Das presented a comprehensive insight into the students’ expectations regarding the courses and the Institute. He informed that NIMS is the first University in North India to introduce the NEP 2020 and the courses of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to set up the first AI Lab on the University’s premises.

Prof. Das shared an intriguing overview of his journey, illustrating his points with real-life experiences from his past. “Now you are an inseparable part of this institution,” he continued, “always try to make it proud with your academics and other creative activities.” Life is about making decisions and making them right, he added in his address.

In terms of the university’s resources, Prof. Das advised students to use the facilities and expertise given to them productively, always putting in their best effort. His guidance for both students and parents revolved around three core principles, aptly captured as the “Three I’s”: Intention, Integration, and Initiation.

The program directors and deans of respective colleges shared their curriculum and teaching methods with the students. They were given a complete layout of the academic structure, and the students were informed about the institution’s program, Clubs and societies of NIMS university.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Sandeep Tripathi, Registrar, NIMS University Rajasthan. Dr. Tripathi highlighted that “Attitude decides your altitude.” “Three things are very important—knowledge, skill, and attitude. Knowledge is vast and can be acquired through many sources. It is important to develop an attitude to gain knowledge. But more importantly, develop skills on par to gain and process that knowledge.”, he added.

The event concluded with the NIMSians’ Oath followed by the National Anthem. NIMS ‘oath demonstrates their commitment to the principles of academic excellence, ethical behavior, and responsible citizenship, which are at the core of the university.
