NIMS Organizes 13th International Youth Summit and Award 2023 in association with The All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice

Jaipur: NIMS University has hosted a highly anticipated 13th International Youth Summit and Award 2023 in collaboration with the All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice (AICHLS). The grand event promised the young minds across various programs to engage in outstanding contributions by the youth leaders. With its commitment to nurturing young leaders and promoting social justice to foster global connectivity and empower young leaders, the summit aimed to address pressing global challenges and provide a platform for innovative solutions.

The event was graced by distinguished individuals like Prof. (Dr.) Sundeep Mishra- Vice-Chancellor (President), NIMS University Rajasthan followed, by Dr. Anthony Raju- Advocate, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Founder President, Fr. Joshy Michael- CEO, National Council of News and Broadcasting, Dr. Moustaffa Attarwala- Youth President of AICHLS, Dr. Firoz Ahmed Siddiqui-  Chairman of AICHLS, Dr. June Ann- Chairman (Women Wing) – AICHLS, and Dr. Sandeep Tripathi- Registrar, NIMS University Rajasthan.

The keynote address and the welcome speech were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sundeep Mishra, Vice Chancellor of NIMS University Rajasthan, who addressed an embodiment of the principles of the summit, and introduced NIMS for providing a platform for both local and global voices to unite and find common ground on critical issues ranging from social justice to liberal democracy. He commended the committee stating, “The dedicated efforts of AICHLS and young volunteers who have worked tirelessly ensure the seamless execution of the goals in this conjoined program to stand with human rights and the empowerment of the youth. Their commitment has been instrumental in creating an atmosphere that permits an exchange of ideas, building new connections, and the contributions of our youth leaders.”

He further emphasized the recent advancements made by the NIMS University that allow youth to focus on creating a better society. He also detailed the University’s planned programmes and forward-thinking transformation strategies. 

The summit revolved around crafting effective strategies for making human rights more accessible. The audience had the privilege of witnessing the prominent figures who had contributed towards making the world a better place. 

Dr. Anthony Raju- Advocate, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Founder President, presented a highlighting address that underscored the immense potential of acknowledging that the world is facing “A crisis in human rights unmatched in history.” He addressed detailed descriptions of social justice and offered guidance to the speakers, “Based on my experience, the first piece of advice I would give is that governments need to speak out about human rights.” 

He was a headline speaker at the event with other speakers. “The first piece of advice I would have from my experience is that governments need to be vocal about human rights,” He said. He suggested that protests be put down with “crowd control,” not with lethal force and that criticism of the political establishment be met with discussion rather than jail time.’

“I recommend communicating about human rights with integrity while still being vocal and consistent. Another piece of advice is ‘Be quick’. Governments need to be prepared to communicate transparently and freely,” he stated.

Dr. Raju further addressed the young minds that they are the building blocks of the future and have the power to make great changes.

Throughout the session, attendees were introduced to information, practices and proposals to effectively communicate the value and impact of the liberal work in different parts of the world. There was a thorough discussion on the various aspects of the project, including its target audiences, objectives, and methods, and highlighting the public awareness of social justice and human rights. 

Concerning the same, the youth were advised towards anti-ragging programmes and videos that motivated them to protest against non-voluntary behavior. 

Achieving Students like Dr. Tarannum Alam Shaikh -PG Resident (NIMS Dental College), Md. Paul Akhtar – B. Sc. Nursing (NIMS Nursing College), Richa Kashyap -BPT (NIMS College of Physiotherapy), Nisha Tanwar -MBA (NIMS School of Business), and Manish Singh -MBA (NIMS School of Business), received the Youth Icon Award for their phenomenal contribution towards the institution for their academic and curriculum excellence at the summit.

The concluding remarks were addressed by Dr. Sandeep Tripathi- Registrar, NIMS University Rajasthan.
