This year, the theme for Yoga Day is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which represents “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” The concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” has its roots in classical Indian philosophy and stands for the realisation that everyone on earth is a member of one big family. It inspires people to develop a sense of harmony, compassion, and respect for one another. India gave birth to the mind-body discipline of yoga thousands of years ago. It has been demonstrated to have a lot of advantages for both physical and mental health, including lowering stress levels, enhancing flexibility, and boosting strength. Yoga acts as a potent catalyst for society and individual transformation by developing environmental awareness, diversity acceptance, physical and mental well-being, and world peace. This commemoration serves as a reminder of the tremendous advantages of yoga and inspires people all around the world to set out on a path of personal progress, harmony, and self-discovery. The yoga instructor first discussed the essence of Yogic exercises on the health of individuals and thereafter, held a Yoga session with a demonstration of Asanas. Faculty, staff, and students enthusiastically participated during the Yoga sessions. The participants were introduced to Yogasanas, (yoga postures) Kapalbhati (a breathing Exercise), Pranayama (breath Control), Dhyana (Concentration), Sankalpa (Resolve or intention setting), and Meditation, as per the common protocol issued by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India. Dr. Pankaj Singh, Director of NIMS Hospital addressed the gathering and said, “Yoga is an effective method for finding equilibrium and promoting inner strength. By commemorating this day, we hope to encourage all members of the university to practice yoga daily and embark on a road of health and self-discovery”. He also exemplifies the significance of this year’s theme, “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which is the notion that all people are interconnected and should live in peace and cooperation with one another, despite differences in race, religion, or any other form of division. The year 2023’s International Yoga Day acts as an important reminder of the peace and harmony that yoga fosters among people all across the world. As we can nurture inner serenity, advance holistic health, and contribute to a more stable and peaceful world by adopting yoga. Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
