Nims Super Specialty Hospital, a unit of Nims University, renowned for its commitment to global education and fostering international collaborations, is delighted to welcome a batch of medical students from the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. This collaboration, part of the Nims International Exchange Program (NIEP), marks a significant step towards advancing global healthcare education and promoting cultural exchange.

With more than 50 international academic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), the University and Hospital actively facilitates global learning opportunities through its NIEP. The program, designed to provide students with exposure to diverse healthcare practices and research methodologies, enhances their understanding of global medical practices and fosters cross-cultural communication.

The Charles University medical batch completed their one-month Clinical Research Internship at NIMS Super Speciality Hospital, a flagship unit of NIMS University, from November 12 to December 8. Specializing in Adult ICU/Anaesthesiology, Interventional Radiology/Neurology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Infectious Diseases, the students and professors actively participated in a one-month Clinical Certification Program.

The primary objective of this program was to provide students with hands-on exposure to the medical research, emphasizing the development of practical skills, ethical considerations related to drugs. Students worked closely with distinguished doctors and researchers from NIMS Hospital, delving into various aspects of the emergency department.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, Chairman & Chancellor of NIMS University, warmly welcomed the students and faculty from Prague to the campus. He emphasized the crucial role that the medical department of the institute can play in shaping the future success of aspiring medical students from Charles University, underscoring the significance of this partnership in contributing to the growth and development of the global healthcare community. He expressed satisfaction in delivering best practices in the medical field to the students, recognizing the value of sharing knowledge and expertise to uphold excellence in medical education and practice.

Milan Trojanek, MD, PhD, Faculty, Charles University, expressed his gratitude, stating, “This exchange program was a unique opportunity for our students to gain new medical knowledge and learn about the health patterns of India. Nims Hospital provided us with invaluable experiences. Our students had a remarkable learning experience here, and we are grateful to NIMS Hospital for this opportunity.” Indian Covid vaccination management was also attracted to us, the world is thankful to India for serving the vaccination, he added. 

Sophia Stasiyapura, a student from Charles University’s Infectious Disease Department, shared her experience, stating, “As a medical student, participating in the exchange program at NIMS Hospital and the university has offered me invaluable insights and a fresh perspective on my chosen field. The exposure and hands-on patient care by the senior surgeons and experts have significantly strengthened my Medical journey. It’s my first visit to an Indian hospital and university, and I commend the NIMS fraternity for its exceptional health infrastructure. The modern facilities are enhancing people’s lives, and the combination of practical knowledge and academic studies here is truly fantastic.”

The institute is presenting a global perspective through its outbound exchange program. The planned visits of UG & PG students of the National Institute of Medial Sciences and Research, to Motol University Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic, and the National Center for Child Health and Development in Tokyo, Japan, demonstrate the valuable practices to providing diverse and enriching experiences for its medical students.

The batch also experienced the rich culture of India, immersing themselves in the vibrant colors of Rajasthan and savouring the aroma of Indian food and cuisine. With a commitment to excellence, NIMS offers a diverse range of programs across various disciplines and actively engages in international initiatives to promote global learning and cultural exchange.
