Nims University Rajasthan proudly marked a historic occasion as it welcomed the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, H.E Prof. Petr Fiala to the University. The focal points of this distinguished visit were the foundation stone laying ceremony for the ‘Petr Fiala Global Institute of Research Innovation’ and the inauguration of the ‘Marik Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Cybernetics’ within the university campus.
In recognition of Prof. Petr Fiala’s outstanding contributions to international policies and political science, as well as his dynamic leadership and unique understanding of legal complexities, the Prime Minister was honored with an Honorary Doctorate by Nims University. This momentous event is acknowledged as the first time a foreign prime minister visited an Indian university, underscoring the significance of international collaboration in education, technology, and sciences.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Eliška Zygova, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in India, Tomas Pojar – National Security Advisor of the Czech Republic, and other notable figures from both nations, emphasizing the diplomatic and collaborative importance of the occasion.
In his welcome address, Prime Minister of The Czech Republic, Petr Fiala commended Nîms University and India for their substantial contributions to medicine, education, innovation, industries, and research patterns. Prof. Fiala expressed gratitude for the honorary degree conferred upon him and emphasized the significance of the partnership between the Czech Republic and Nîms University. He highlighted the importance of cooperation in science and technology, particularly in medical and scientific education.
Dr. Eliška Zygova, Ambassador the Czech Republic in India, expressed happiness on the occasion and said that it is a historic moment to have the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in their midst.
She emphasized that three important factors come to the fore when discussing the future: education, innovation and partnerships. She also said that India and the Czech Republic are ready to start a new chapter with the importance of these three factors.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvir Singh Tomar, Chairman and Chancellor, Nims University welcomed Petr Fiala, Prime Minister, Czech Republic. He expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for inspiring and encouraging our students in the fields of innovation and research.”
Prof. Tomar emphasized the significance of the new partnership, characterizing it as crucial for India’s development. He expressed that the emerging generation in India, holding aspirations for a developed nation by 2047, sees Artificial Intelligence and Medical Science as integral contributors to this vision. He stated that, the collaboration with the Czech Republic is poised to bring innovative education, offering students the keys to success in building a developed India.
He highlighted the importance of students comprehending the vast scale of research through exploration and encouraged them to invest themselves in the realm of scientific research.
Scientific ties between Nims and Czech Technical University
With the inauguration of the Marik Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Cybernetics at University campus, Nims University and the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague have launched the “Indo-Pacific-European Hub for Digital Partnership: Sustainable Wellbeing (INPACE)”. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to cooperate on the “Trusted Digital Technologies” project. The project is part of the European Union’s HORIZON-CL4-2023-HUMAN-01 programme.

The Petr Fiala Global Institute of Health Research Innovation* will be involved in a variety of medical and health-related research activities, typically including:
*Biomedical Research*: This will involve the study of biological processes and diseases at the molecular, genetic and cellular levels, with the aim of developing more effective treatments and understanding the underlying mechanisms of various health conditions.
*Health systems research*: This would involve examining how health care systems can be improved by looking at aspects such as policy, health care delivery and economics of health care.
*Innovation in Medical Technology*: The center will be involved in the development and testing of new medical technologies, such as diagnostic devices, medical imaging equipment and digital health solutions.
*Public Health Studies:* Research here will focus on public health issues, such as disease prevention, health promotion, and how lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors contribute to health and disease, especially chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes etc.
*Clinical Trials:* The Center will conduct clinical trials to test new drugs, treatments and medical devices to ensure their safety and effectiveness before making them widely available.
The institute will have an impressive array of specialized institutes that will help in setting new benchmarks in healthcare with the Government of Rajasthan, including Multi-Organ Transplant Institute, Institute of Genetics and Biology, Institute of Robotics and Biomedical Engineering, Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Institute of Immunology and Virology, Institute of Immunology and Virology.

Prof. (Dr.) Vladimir Marik – Scientific Director of the Department of Cybernetics at the Czech Institute of Technology (CTU), highlighted the crucial role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all fields and expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts contributing significantly to the development of this field.
