Festival of Education in Jaipur
The Festival of Education (FOE) hosted by Rajasthan State Government was held on 5th & 6th Aug’17 in Jaipur. The festival was a two-day event with the aim to increase education opportunities in the state and enhance the experience of students.
The event had many esteemed names from various fields lined up as speakers for the event. The event has already created enough buzz on social media with a tweetathon and blogathon dedicated solely to the event. The event was kicked off on August 5 at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The Chief Guest of event was Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development of UAE His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, He said that education plays key role in personal and social development of any human being. It enables one acquire knowledge and skills which would then defines one’s future
Addressing the gathering of educationists and researchers, teachers and parents on this occasion, Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhra Raje said that given the geographical and demographical circumstances of the state, providing quality education to the children here it was a big challenge. Accepting this challenge, her government brought big changes in the educational set-up and made it learning based.
Addressing the festival, Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javdekar said that the countries focusing on research and innovation excel in the world.
On this occasion, Higher and Technical Education Minister Smt. Kiran Maheshwari, Minister of State for School Education Shri Vasudeo Devnani, Members of State Cabinet, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shri Ashok Jain, Founder of Gems Education Shri Sunny Varkey. Prof(Dr.)Balvir S Tomar, Chairman &Chancellor, Nims University was special invitee to the event. Vice Chancellors of several universities, educationists, researchers, students and senior officers of the state government were also present.
Launch of the CSR portal
During the inaugural function of the festival, the CM launched an education CSR portal Gyan Samkalp. She also gave prizes to the school students for their cultural performances during the function. Participants of the event and guests pledged for making efforts to ensure quality and equal opportunities of education to all.
The event was marked by sessions with Shankar Mahadevan, Singer and Composer, Avni Rai, Film Maker, Shabana Azmi, Actor, Akshay Kumar, Actor, Sushmit Sen, Actor, Divya Dutta, Theatre and Film Actor, JJ Valaya, Designer, and Manish Mehrotra, Chef and many other veterans from different fields.
There were various cultural competitions – Antaragni and Harmonexus for school and college students. Anataragni , a group dance competition for school students while Harmonexus, a band competition for college students. Students from many schools participated in these events.
Promoting young talent was one of the priorities of this festival. Recognising hard work and innovative thinking were a set of awards to the winners of the Big Data Challenge Competition by Higher Education Department beginning with first winner bagging Rs 1 Lakh. To rejoice the success of this event came in Sona Mohapatra with her band and stormed the stage with her voice.
In all ways, this festival has encompassed every aspect that comes under effective education and learning- from inspiring students through compelling talks by prominent leaders to influencing parents to let children follow their passions. This festival trumpeted the need for quality education, teacher dedication and a provision of a holistic environment where students with all their capabilities flourish and become contributors to national development.
Speaking about the event Prof(Dr.) Balvir S Tomar ,Chairman, Nims University applauded the efforts of State government & complimented them for organizing such an event. He said that this will give a fillip to education in Rajasthan & will bring it on forefront of the world map. He emphasised the importance of education & said that any society can progress only through education. He also said that Nims University laid special emphasis on innovation & took special care that the young minds are ignited at a very early stage.
Nims University also participated in the Festival of Education. Students of Nims University showcased the projects made by them.
The projects displayed by Nims University students were:
3D printing or Additive Manufacturing (AM) is any of various processes for making a three-dimensional object of almost any shape from a 3D model or other electronic data source primarily through additive processes in which successive layers of material are laid down under computer control. A 3D printer is a type of industrial robot.It can build 3D objects from a 2D image also and also from the CAM gcode.
Generally for almost every manufacturing process pollution occurs but products made through 3D printer is pollution free.
It do not leave any waste material. Prototypes can be made without significant investment.
Auto Solar and Sensor Vehicle
Generally used as a land transport. Runs on power from the sun. Multiple guages are there to spot possible problems, monitored by the driver. The car’s energy consumption, solar energy capture and other parameters are monitored by the driver’s team as it features wireless telemetry, hence making comfort zone for driver
The technology could be used in aerospace, alternative energy and automotive industries. Both racing cars as well as cars for public use are made and used using particular technology.
Depends on solar array that use photovoltaic cells (PV cells) to convert sunlight into electricity. PV cells directly convert particulars. Rechargeable solar panels are anytime more efficient and more economic than other panel systems being used day today.
