In its pursuit of excellence and providing additional skills to its staff & students Nims University tied up with IIT-Bombay for its Spoken Tutorial Project. It is an initiative if MHRD,Govt of India.
Nims University has become the Nodal Resource Centre of IIT Mumbai. The Spoken Tutorial Project aims to teach programming languages, office tools, graphic and circuit design tools through audio video tutorials to students of both IT & Non –IT courses.
Spoken Tutorial project has courses in C, C++, Java, Python, MySQL, PHP, Linux, Netbeans. It has courses in LibreOffice (for office work), SciLab for scientific calculations, GIMP (for graphical design) and Oscad (for electronic circuit design) etc. The students who complete the tutorials will get certificate from IIT -Mumbai .The certificate will give edge to students in getting better employment as most corporate look for these skills in their employees. Ms Nidhi Sony ,Training Coordinator of IIT Mumbai gave information about the project to the HODs & faculties of University. She told that Nims University was the only University of Rajasthan to become a Nodal Resource Centre of IIT Mumbai.
