NIMS University has organized a workshop to introduce students to the ministry of human resources-run apprentice training scheme.

Director of Kanpur-headquartered northern region wing of HRD ministry, Vivek Kumar, informed students at Rajeshwari convention hall that students will be paid stipend for their training with reputed organizations. He said those who want internship can apply online.

NIMS Director Pankaj Singh said government workshops for sharpening skills of students are making them industry ready. For lack of industry readiness, students are not being absorbed in the job market.

The industry is benefitting from the skill training as they have a large pool of talent to train and ultimately absorb them. The industry is facing an acute shortage of talent as those who have degrees do not have industry required skills.

The HRD ministry programme is preparing thousands of students to become productive, he said.
