NIMS University remembers rights activist Rosa Park on Women’s day
Nims University celebrated International Women’s day remembering American rights activist Rosa Park who fought against discrimination.
It is a day to reinforce equality of women and preparing society for their equal rights in social, economic and political fields. International Women’s Day was first celebrated in 1911, followed by the United Nations in 1975 where it was decided to celebrate on March 08, 2018 every year as women’s Day with a theme around the world.
Special programmes were organised at the Rajeshwari Auditorium, NIMS University in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, #PressforProgress’’ was the theme created by the United Nations to celebrate this International Women’s Day.
The Chief Guest of the program was Dr. Pankaj Singh, Director NIMS University. While addressing the programme he said that this is the age of 21st century women. While giving the example of Rosa Park, he said there should be no discrimination against women in the world, as Rosa park herself demonstrated taking on those who misbehaved with her.
Dr. Prem Singh, Registrar of NIMS, emphasized on education of women saying that if women were educated then the entire society would eventually be educated.
Brig. Kamlesh Singh, Chairperson, Nims Women Cell, NIMS University said that on this day programmes are organized in honour of women all over the world. Women’s Commissions have been formed at the Center and State levels after independence in India.
Dr. Juhi Singh, Director of NIMS University, Dr Mridula Trehan, Principal-Nims Dental College, Dr. Kalpana, Dr. Renu Sharma and all the teachers, students of the University were present at the event.
