NIMS University Recognises Efforts of Students, Confers Degrees

NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur, held convocation ceremony on March 28, 2023, at Rajeshwari Auditorium inside the university campus. The university recognised the efforts and conferred awards to the meritorious students and offered degrees to the graduates, post-graduates, and PhDs and also took this opportunity to become the launchpad for the Uterus Transplant Program, initiating its journey of becoming the first medical college in India to offer uterus transplant services.

Chairman & Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar presided over the event with Miloslav Ludvík, CEO of University Hospital Motol, as the chief guest along with Deputy Manager For Engineering & Technology at University Hospital Motol Pavel Budinský, Deputy Manager For Nursing Care at University Hospital Motol Jana Nováková, Professor & Head of Paediatrics at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College Dr Ashok Gupta, and Registrar at Rajasthan Medical Council, Jaipur, Dr Manish Sharma as the guests of honour. Along with them were the Head of the Legal Department at University Hospital Motol Hana Elišáková and Lawyer at University Hospital Motol Lenka Teska Arnoštová.

With Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, Pro-Chancellor Dr Sanjiv Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr US Agrawal, and Registrar Sandeep Tripathi also shared the dais.

The event began in the Rajeshwari Auditorium with the National Anthem followed by lamp lighting while the hall was enchanted by the Saraswati Vandana. Hon’ble Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar declared the Convocation 2023 open and Pro Vice Chancellor of NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur Dr U S Agrawal presented the annual report to provide a summary of the last academic year. He highlighted the commendable performance of the university with students from all parts of the world joining them to shape up a society that strives for excellence.

The next one to speak was Prof. Dr. Balvir S. Tomar himself, who greeted the parents and students taking their seats in the auditorium. He spoke about the new phase of life of the students and wished to see them fly high with the wings that NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur has provided them. The chairman of the university also praised the parents for letting their children enter this world of NIMS and allowing them to excel. 

“I am sure, you will do wonders wherever you go,” the chancellor said.

Moving ahead, Prof. Dr. Tomar welcomed all the guests on the dais one by one to the prestigious academic festival and also congratulated the academic awardees who were present in the auditorium. Next, he gave the alumni an opportunity to share their experiences at NIMS. While one of them thanked the university for having supportive management, the other showed his gratitude towards the opportunities that it offered.

“I am grateful to the university for providing us the opportunity to explore,” Anupam Kumar, B.Tech. (2014-18) batch said while thanking the chairman for giving him a chance to speak. “I developed two apps because of the encouragement that I received here and today, both the apps are performing well and doing business in millions.”

Prof. Dr. Balvir S. Tomar, thanked University Hospital Motol for having faith in the institution and collaborating with it to bring the Uterus Transplant Services to India under the guidance of Dr Surabhi Tomar, an expert gynaecologist & IVF expert.

Concluding his speech, the founder and chairman of the NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur told the students that their journey or path to success will have many hurdles. But this is when they must realise their potential and keep chasing their dreams until they are achieved. 

“Impossible says, I am possible,” the chancellor asked the students to remember this mantra for life.

Dr Manish Sharma was the next one to take the honour to speak and he praised the students for their effort and achievements. In addition, he also congratulated the NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur team for bringing the Uterus Transplant Program to India, which is likely to eradicate infertility issues to a great extent.

Dr Ashok Gupta was the next to be invited on stage to speak. He said how pleased he was to be on this platform. While congratulating the students on this auspicious occasion, he also focused on how they should define success. “Success is not just academic excellence,” he said.

“You have the capability. You have it in you. You just need to keep putting the effort and go on,” he said, encouraging the students.

Last but not least, Miloslav Ludvík was on stage to encourage the students. He thanked Prof. Dr. Balvir S. Tomar and said that India is creating examples all across the world. “I am proud to collaborate with you for the new beginnings and help you create and settle new programs in your hospital,” the chief guest said, addressing the founder & chairman of NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur.

The degrees and titles were conferred to the candidates with 40 University Gold Medals and two special Chancellor’s Gold Awards were presented to K Nirmal Kumar and Anu Gauba for their outstanding work and contribution to their respective fields.

The University also conferred the Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) degree to Miloslav Ludvík – General Manager, University Hospital Motol, and Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) degrees to Krishna Bhati – Principal, N.H. Goel World School, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Puneet Dua – Architect & Urban Designer, Rajiv Kumar Vijay – Structure Engineer, Rakesh Kumar Bahl – Chairman, Krishna Buildestates Pvt Ltd., and Vikas Garg – Co-Founder and Director Of Global Buildestate Projects Pvt. Ltd. 

In the closing remarks, Dr Sanjiv Sharma delivered the vote of thanks to everyone on the dais and wished the students and alumni all the very best for their future endeavours.

The glittering eyes of the parents filled the auditorium with joy and positivity and there seemed to be a bond building between the alumni and the current students. The connections built at NIMS University Rajasthan, Jaipur are bonds forever and this was clearly visible as the alumni, students, faculty members, and parents got along so well and enjoyed the event collectively with a smile on their faces.

The National Anthem preceded the end of the grand event. The students left the auditorium with lifetime memories and were found equally sad at leaving the campus where they grew and were groomed well to be future-ready. The parents were happy to see their little ones receive appreciation and recognition for their efforts, while the faculty members felt proud to see the students they nurtured and witnessed turning into ambitious and industry-ready individuals.
