Department of Electrical Engineering
Keeping the job market trend in full view, the department of electrical engineering offers seven major pathways through five innovative programmes – one programme each at diploma, graduation, post graduation and doctoral level while two programmes are at undergraduate level. At the undergraduate level, programmes are designed with inter-disciplinary approach and integrated in nature. All courses are of equal demand and admission to such programmes is purely on merit basis.
In order to make learning more practice oriented, efforts at the departmental level is commendable in terms of providing hands on experience with the support of laboratories of Electrical and Electronic, Engineering-Electrical Workshop, Electrical Machine lab, Electrical measurement Lab Electrical Maintenance & Repair Lab. Department is having a well maintained Engineering Workshop with highly experienced and trained supervisors. It has Center of Excellence for CAD/PLC/SCADA. A dedicated group is devoted to the electrical machine Design & Development for the wind energy.
One of the major innovations of the department is the Green Energy Initiative (GEI) which is an interdepartmental project with goals for harvesting solar and wind energy barring energy conservation and energy generation.
The demand for Indian electrical engineers is more prevalent in the Middle East, gulf countries, Malaysia, and Thailand, and countries especially in the north east Africa. Since real estate in India is showing an upward growth trend, it eventually accentuates the need for more experts from electrical engineering. While the past and present times in India and Asia depict the contexts where electrical engineers are much needed, its futurology brings more opportunities in the coming next three decades.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Complex theories are applied to the field in learner friendly manner and the Department of Mechanical Engineering connects students to vocations through eleven potent paths across five innovative programmes– one programme each at diploma, post graduation and doctoral level while two programmes are at undergraduate level. Programmes offered at the mechanical engineering department are inter-disciplinary and integrated in nature. Strategic planning and total quality management are striking feature of the department for which it attracts a large number of students from India and abroad.
“Learning to practice and practice to learn”—has been the guiding principle and our experts in the field of mechanical engineering highly believe in hands on experience. In order to transform the acquired knowledge to desired skills, the department has well maintained Engineering Workshop with highly experienced and trained supervisors. It has Center of Excellence for CAD/CAM/CAE. A dedicated group has initiated activities relating to the Design and CFD analysis of airfoil for wind turbine. The department is equipped with well developed laboratory for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology. Many interdepartmental programs are going on such as wind/solar energy generation and conservation, design and development of hydrogen and bio fuel cells, generation and storage of hydrogen and brown gases.
Under the Nims Green Energy Initives (GEI), technologies such as 100 watt Vertical axis wind mill, 1m3 bio-gas plant, and solar street lights were developed in-house. Under the NIMS GEI (Green Energy Initiatives), energy conservation and energy generation are in process to make energy independent campus
A cursory glance at the job market at the global level reveals that India and China will be initiating business activities of speciality chemicals companies and there will be boosting business prospects for the chemical industry and thus generate demand for mechanical engineers. The emergence of biologics companies across globe open up new vistas and opportunities for mechanical technicians, production technicians, quality assurance technicians and operators in biomedical industries and laboratories.
Department of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology
Computer Science and Information Technology drive the world and has become an indispensable part of human civilization. For every learned individual, it is an asset for the knowledge economy. The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology Engineering not only grooms research scientists who have passion for invention and novel design of new technology and explore new vistas for the use of existing technology. Prospective computer technologists are supervised and guided by experts to study and solve complex problems in computing in all walks of human endeavour especially in business, science, medicine, and education sector.
The department has emerged as a centre of excellence has landscaped its academic programmes extensively on the Advanced Computer Theory and Engineering. Some of the latest curricular goals across which the programmes and courses are designed include information and financial engineering, software technology and engineering, sustainable eco-friendly environment and engineering, computer and electrical engineering. The department assures utmost quality in all the programmes at undergraduate (4 programmes), post graduate( 5 programmes) and Ph. D levels.
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Applied Electronics and Instrumentation
In order to meet the wide ranging, challenging and very rapidly growing Global Demands for “Professional Electronics and Communication Engineers” in this Hi-Tech Era, the Department of “Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE)” and “Department of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering(AEIE)” were established since inception of the institute in the year 2008. In a very short span of time since the departments were launched in institute, they have made a name for itself, among the top few colleges, at the University level, through Seminars, Symposia, Workshops, and Conferences and also through its performance in the Examinations and Placement.
The department are marching ahead with the introduction of Doctoral Degree & Master’s Program in Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication and Electronic & Instrumentation.
The departments specializes in fields like Biomedical instrumentation, Analog Integrated Circuits, Analog and Digital Signal Processing, Advance Process Control ,Digital Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Microprocessors, Communication Theory, VLSI Design, Digital Communication, Antenna and Wave propagation. It is intended to develop these departments in such a manner that in addition to conducting educational programmes leadings to B.E, M. Tech, it could also support industrial R&D activities and Technology Transfer.

Department of Biotechnology
The Department of Biotechnology at NIMS Institute of Engineering & Technology, NIMS University, Jaipur was established in 2008 with a vision to make an impact through research, technology based training and innovation and service to society. The Department is housed in the ‘NIET Building’. On-going research and development activities are focussed on bioprocess technology, animal cell science, plant tissue culture, development of Bioreactor, molecular medicine, Drug designing, nano medicine, Application of Genetic Techniques for improvement of crops and vegetation.
Department of Chemical Engineering
Chemical Engineering involves the design and maintenance of chemical plants and the development of chemical processes for converting raw materials or chemicals into valuable forms including those to remove chemicals from waste materials, to enable large-scale manufacture. It combines knowledge of Chemistry and Engineering for the production of chemicals and related by-products. Chemical Engineering is the apt career for those who have an aptitude and interest to work with chemicals. However, Chemical Engineering is different from chemical technology. The former is concerned with the designing, supervision, construction, installation and operation of plants and equipments for manufacturing chemical products and developing new methods of production while the latter deals with the actual production of substances with new properties which require new methods of production in the fields of petroleum refining, fertilizer technology, processing of food and agricultural products, paints and dyes; recycling metals, glass and plastics; cosmetics, mineral based industries and prevention and control of environmental hazards.
Department of Nanotechnology Engineering
Nanotechnology Engineering is a multi-disciplinary Engineering field which simultaneously draws from and benefits areas such as Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Nano- technology courses educate an individual on the development and modification of devices with atomic precision where the dimension of particles are less than 100 nanometers. It is widely applied in nano-electronics and nano devices, converging physics, biology, engineering, and chemistry and computer science. Important breakthroughs have been achieved in the fields of gene chip designing, application of fat soluble vitamins in aqueous beverage, designing of stain repellent textiles, automobile industry, space research organizations, nano crystal installation in bumps, designing of electrically conductive nano- polymers, nanostructed materials in photographic films and devising bio- mimetic paints.
Department of Civil Engineering

Department of Agricultural Engineering
Agricultural Engineers apply engineering principles to all activities related to agriculture and horticulture. This basically implies looking after the mechanization of agricultural activities for the smooth functioning and efficient increase in food productivity. They discover the ways to conserve soil and water and to improve the processing of agricultural products. Agricultural Engineering is a vast and diversified field, offering numerous career options. The department of Agricultural Engineering was established in 2009 with a vision to provide quality education, technology based training and research in the field of soil and water conservation, watershed development, food processing, farm machinery and equipment. The department has mainly four departments having rich faculties of Soil & Water Engineering, Agricultural Process Engineering, Renewable Energy and Farm Machinery and Power Engineering. Currently, the department has 3 qualified and specialized faculties in various field of Agricultural Engineering i.e. Soil and Water Conservation, Irrigation Water Management, Food Processing. The department is offering under graduate and post graduate courses concerned to specific stream. The Department of Agricultural Engineering offers a wide range of research & training opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate within the field of specific subject areas including advance irrigation techniques, soil and water conservation measures, advances techniques like artificial neural network, remote sensing and GIS etc.
